Bandsaw Box - boat shaped

This box was just an enhancement of the basic box.

The box itself was 'boat shaped' and the handle was made to look like the superstructure.

As before the lid and base of the box were cut first, but before the inner profile was cut a slice was taken for the back of the boat to enable square corners at the rear.

Next the inside of the boat hull was cut to a paper template.

This photograph shows the hull with the back and sides glued in place.

The outside profile was cut to give an even wall thickness and then the lid was added and the same profile traced.

A simple superstructure shape was then cut from a lighter wood.

Before the superstructure was glued in place the lid was cut at an angle so it narrowed towards the stern.

To finish the boat had a funnel added and the whole assembly was coated in teak oil
