Saab 96 - Remaking the glovebox

The original glovebox interior was made from cardboard and had warped and ripped with age.

First the old interior was dismantled by drilling out all the rivets.

Then the parts were used as templates to cut new parts.

All the straight sides were made from 4mm Plywood for rigidity. All the parts which required folding or bending, were made from 0.5mm aluminium.

Next all the parts were drilled and screwed together. The size was checked against the glove box mounting points in the car.

To finish filler was used to seal the corners. Then some textured paint was used to give the final surface.

Finally here is the glovebox fitted in the car.
