Stuart No 1 - Conclusion

Good points

Overall this was a good project.

Functionally the engine was good and there were no major problems during the build.

The design of the engine had great classic looks. The size of the engine was impressive and it's nice to know that it could do useful work if it was ever put into service. The Stuart kit was complete and most of the castings were very nice to machine.

The Stuart accessories were a nice finishing touch especially the lubricator which looked just right.

Bad points

The flywheel was disappointing because it was not possible to get it to run true and the defects in the rim were irritating. The fact that this was the second flywheel and had the same defects as the first was also disappointing.

The valve guide was a complete mystery. A solution to supporting the valve rod would be needed if the engine was ever put into service.
