Stuart No 1 - Box Bed

This was possibly the simplest component in the kit to machine.

The top and bottom faces were filled flat (or milled).

If filing is used then regular checks should be made against a flat surface such as the lathe bed or a surface plate to ensure the finished engine stands firm.

Once both the bottom and top were flat, the 3 mounting holes were drilled using the drill press, these holes were already marked in the casting to make location easier.

Finally the 4 mounting holes were completed on the top face by clamping the box bed and sole plate (already drilled) together and drilling though both parts. The 4 holes were taped using the drill press to ensure the studs would stand perpendicular to the top face.
